Health promotion initiative seeks to engage and entitle communities and individuals to opt for healthy behaviors and change their lifestyles to decrease the intensity of getting serious diseases and some other morbidity. In this case, the focus is on mental health promotion which significantly aims at increasing and improving healthy behaviors as well as the protective factors that aid in preventing the start of the diagnosable mental illness and decreasing the associated risk factors that may lead to the development of the mental problem. Organizations must incorporate yoga as an effective mental health promotion plan as it can make the individual’s body active, calm, and reflective. Yoga improves an individual’s mental well-being by developing calmness and clarity; mind relaxation relieves stress patterns, enhances concentration, and centers attention. Significantly, a mental health promotion strategy is sound and recommended for any clinical setting due to its needs. It requires collaboration to be effective and consists of various interdisciplinary support teams that gear smart operations.
Need for mental health promotion in the clinical setting
Mental illness is one of the problems that impact the clinical setting. Its effects range from mild to severe, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and eating disorders. The interdisciplinary collaboration of mental health promotion is important in a clinical setting as it helps society determine people’s stress levels and relationships with others and make healthy decisions. Also, a good collaboration among mental health experts has positive impacts in a clinical setting as it enhances the patient’s health status, decreases clinical errors, and improves the patient’s quality of care. A literature review done by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that mental disorder is a global burden disease. Global mental health problems have influenced international transactions, which retards economic growth because approximately 4.4 percent of the global population suffers from anxiety and depression (World Health Organization, 2020). It has various effects, such as low levels of education, economic deprivation and disadvantage, insecure employment, violence, and discrimination. Therefore, a clinical setting should attempt to address the mental illness consequences by adopting regular yoga practice within its working environments.
Importance of collaboration on mental health promotion and techniques its utilization
Collaboration is essential in mental health promotion strategies as it improves teamwork among professionals and enhances problem-solving. These reasons lead to efficient processes, elevated success, more innovation, and enhanced organizational communication. The collaborative care techniques incorporated for mental disorders among the societal members include adopting regular yoga practice, prioritizing the values and preferences of people with mental health issues, and establishing mental health centers for guidance and counseling services. The interdisciplinary strategies, in this case, will be utilized by creating supportive working environments, tightening community action, and encouraging personal skills. A systematic review of the effects of yoga on mental health promotion as a tool in managing mental issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, and other mental disorders showed positive outcomes. According to Surana and Kanwar (2022), regular yoga exercise among the organization’s employees results in the sense of well-being, enhanced body image, and self-confidence and encourages mind relaxation. It also improves production efficiency, increases attention, reduces irritability, and promotes an optimistic physical appearance.
Supportive team members for a mental health promotion plan and how to roll out it
Collaboration is essential for any clinical setting and comprises interdisciplinary supportive team members that enhance successful operations. The team members may include social workers, nursing staff, mental health service providers, clients, and physical therapists. A clinical setting can address clients’ or communities’ mental health promotion strategies differently. For instance, providing free lifestyle counseling and distributing materials like bronchus to society on signs and effects of poor mental health problems. Additionally, hosting seminars to address stress management and depression techniques like the yoga exercise to help societal members reduce stress and anxiety while improving focus (Pascoe et al., 2020). A systematic literature review by the WHO shows positive outcomes of an interdisciplinary collaboration approach in health care. The approach yields efficient and better patients outcome since it incorporates and engages professionals to work as a team leading to high focus and attentiveness to patients.
Mental health promotion is a consolidated plan that is healthy and recommended for most clinical settings or communities as it helps manage the level of stress. The plan is achievable in a clinical setting with the adoption of yoga exercises as it helps to manage stress levels reducing depression and anxiety while improving mind relaxation, increasing mental clarity, and increasing attentiveness. Also, the yoga exercise as a tool for mental health promotion incorporates interdisciplinary collaboration, which encourages the achievement of healthy mental choices in society. Further, the interdisciplinary supportive team members gear the plan’s success by utilizing some techniques. They aid the collaboration process and guide the steps toward the implementation of regular yoga exercises to relieve mental health issues.
