Understanding the learning process involved in nursing education has a great deal to do with how important all of the information obtained is for the future practice of a master’s prepared nurse. This section covers the central ideas uncovered during the course, which are critical for the nursing practice. This reflection enlightens the significance of cultural humility and evidence-based practice and shows how these concepts affect the approach to patients and personal and professional growth. The discussion also explains whether the course activities and assignments fit with program outcomes and the AACN Essentials Competencies, demonstrating their role in preparing nurses to work in the practical healthcare environment.
Several things have stood out to me throughout the class, and my overall understanding of the scope of nursing practice has grown. Cultural sensitivity is vital in patient-centred care. Efficacy in nurse-patient relationships and culturally sensitive nursing depends on intercultural competence and prejudice awareness. The schooling enforced the significance of EBP in nursing (Baixinho et al., 2022). Better treatment and patient outcomes are attained by acquiring the skill to evaluate and employ research evidence critically. One goal in this course is to integrate what I learn with patient care as a nurse with a master’s level education. Cultural humility is one thing I have to do in order to build a respectful and culturally sensitive working environment for my patients. A data-driven approach will also help me stay updated with the research and apply it to clinical practice. This keeps my practice up-to-date and in line with the current study, which ultimately improves the patient’s results.
One of the important program outcomes of the MSN program is personal and professional development through reflective practice and cultural humility (Cultural Humility). The activities and assignments of the course gave me the means to succeed (Hughes et al., 2020). I can achieve personal and professional growth through reflective practice by analyzing my opinions, stereotypes, and working techniques. Cultural humility has brought my attention to every patient’s unique requirements, making me provide care with humility and empathy. I will gain these skills, and that will, in turn, improve my practice and make the system inclusive.
To improve the nursing influence in healthcare, a person should understand the nursing viewpoint and its consistent integration with other areas. This competency has subcompetency 1.1f: Display nursing science in practice (Jackson, 2024). I mastered the application of nursing science to clinical practice in practice. A critical appraisal and application of research evidence enable me to ensure that my care is relevant to the latest nursing science and evidence-based (Jackson, 2024). This skill enables me to provide high-level, patient-centred care and enhance the image of nursing in healthcare.
Through the course learning, my viewpoint and approach to nursing practice as a master’s level nurse have been shaped greatly. Both cultural humility and evidenced-based practice have guided me in healthcare and equipped me for healthcare delivery. Integrating reflective practice and nursing science will enhance healthcare delivery and promote patient-centred care. I strongly believe that as a nurse with a Master’s degree, I can bring something special to the nursing community and enhance my patients’ lives.
