Leadership is always changing and needs to be regularly reviewed and made better. In this essay, I will assess how my plan to become a better leader worked this term. This essay aims to look at how my behaviors have changed, which theories were used, what was observed, and how they could be used in the future to understand my journey as a leader.
This term, I worked to improve how I talk to people and make sure everyone feels included in my team. I focused on listening to my team members, giving them helpful feedback, and motivating them to take part in making decisions. These changes were made little by little, using advice from both mentors and team members to make sure they worked well and lasted a long time.
The process involved thinking about what we were doing and making changes as needed. I used ideas about being a transformational leader and focused on how to inspire and encourage others to work together towards the same goals (Reza, 2019). I wanted to create a good work environment by using these ideas to encourage teamwork and new ideas.
The main idea behind my improvement plan was using transformational leadership. This theory says that a leader can motivate and make their followers feel empowered by talking about their vision, challenging them to think, paying attention to each person’s needs, and being a good role model. During the process, I worked on improving how I communicate and creating a supportive team, which follows the main ideas of transformational leadership. At first, I thought about including other leadership theories, but I decided to stick with transformational leadership because it fits with how I lead and the organization I work in.
I worked hard to become a better leader, and it’s going well. First, the team is feeling better and is more involved. I ask for and appreciate my team’s ideas and have created a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to our goals. Also, the team has been talking more and better, which has made it clearer and easier for everyone to understand the goals and expectations for the project.
Furthermore, I have seen the team working better together, with members showing more trust and working more closely. Because of these changes, the team is now more productive and creative, which helps them to solve problems and make decisions better.
My team members have had different reactions to the changes in how I lead them. Some people are happy about the change to a more inclusive and communicative leadership style, but others are not sure about it and are hesitant. This resistance might come from not wanting to change because of new leaders or not understanding why the change is necessary.
To deal with these problems, I have made communication a top priority. I am open and honest about why I make certain decisions as a leader, and I also ask for feedback to clear up any misunderstandings or worries (Kouzes & Posner, 2023). In the future, I think that being consistent and true to myself as a leader will make my team members accept and agree with me more.
I have worked hard to improve my leadership style. This program has helped me improve my skills in communication, working with others, and empowering others. It has made me a better and kind leader. This change has helped me create a caring and welcoming team atmosphere, promoting happiness and unity. I feel proud of the progress I’ve made, even though I know I still have more to learn and improve. I am determined to keep getting better and becoming a better leader for me and my team.
In the future, I plan to use the things I learned from this plan to help me lead better. I want to keep improving how I lead so I can be better at handling changes and problems in the organization. In addition, I want to tell my coworkers about what I have learned so we can all keep learning and growing at our company.
In conclusion, my plan to improve my leadership skills has helped me and my team in real ways. I have made specific changes in people’s behavior and used good leadership to make the work environment better. It’s now more inclusive, collaborative, and productive. In the future, I will keep working on improving and learning as a leader, taking on new challenges with confidence and excitement.
